I have a party to go to Saturday night. It's a fundraiser for a local theatre company and the tickets were a gift. I had an outfit all figured out until I looked closely at the invitation. It's black tie. Woopsy! Thank goodness I figured that out before Saturday afternoon. Or as I walked in the door. I have nightmares about that sort of thing.
I am such a jeans and sneakers kind of person that this becomes something of a challenge. A search of the closet revealed a dress that I bought a few years back that will fit the bill AND still fits me, thank goodness. Shoes and accessories are going to prove more difficult primarily because I have to work around this:
How exactly does one minimize the ugly boot? Or it is better to go the other route and make it the showpiece of the outfit? Should I bedazzle it? Or perhaps I can knit it a cozy? There has to be something.....
It's a beautiful day here. Cocktails on the deck tonight. And I'll stop complaining about the broken foot.
This got me to delurk!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that nobody will notice your boot no matter what you do - I say that having heard a story from an amputee friend who was once asked by someone how long she was going to be on crutches. (?!?!?!) Clearly some people don't bring observation skills to the table.
Having said that, I do like the Bedazzler idea...!
I think that a handknit boot cozy or even a jaunty knit tie or scarf wrapped around it will give it a nice flair.
ReplyDeletei went to a wedding when i had that brace on my foot - it was my third day out of the cast and in the brace so, i was happy i could walk (which led to drunk foot brace dancing - oops!) i didn't dress up the brace but, my dress was long!
ReplyDeletewhen it was a cast and i was in a wedding earlier that summer, i covered it with fabric to match the tablecloths!
have fun!

Bedazzle it, definitely!! A little glitter, a little glue and you'll have a new definition for BLING!!

Bedazzle it, and wear a pretty handknit sock under it.
ReplyDeleteWill you want to wear the glitter and jewels AFTER the party? If not, the Bedazzler may not be the answer...
ReplyDeleteA pretty hand-knit sock to coordinatw with your dress or other accessories would be nice. Or a lacy handknit scarf wrapped (very, very carefully because of the Velcro) around the boot, if you can carry that off.
The main thing is to have a great time.
Too late for suggestions, but would love to hear what you ended up doing! I'm currently feeling whiny about an ugly splint on a sprained thumb (also cuts into the knitting ability!) so I don't mind you complaining a bit about a broken bone!
