Little Crochet

A new book came across my desk the other day, Little Crochet by Linda Permann. Over the past few months, more and more crochet is hitting my radar. Are you noticing it too or am I just crazy?

The first chapter is all about the basics. She discusses hooks, gauge, yarn substitution, how to read a pattern, symbols etc. It all made sense, even to this old fart of a knitter.

This book has some really cute patterns. I have kind of an oddball litmus test when it comes to kid's patterns...I always put my thumb over the kid/baby's face to make sure I'm not being won over by a pretty face. Virtually everything here made the cut.

The Sock It To Me Sweater Vest is a-dor-a-ble.

It's worked in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock. MC is Franklin's Panopticon and CC is Chocolate.

The other pattern that I fell hard for is Stripe the Giraffe.

Seriously, could it get any cuter than this?

Speaking of tiny giraffes:

You know Linda was way ahead of them here.

Speaking as a crochet gal who is just now learning how to knit... I totally agree that there has been a lot more interest in crochet over the last 6 months than I have seen in a LONG time. I'm loving it!

But I'm also loving my new found talents as a knitter. There are going to be so many more options open for me now that I'll be able to crochet AND knit. The possibilities just make my head spin!

I'm HUGE LL fan! Love the store and love, love, love all that delicious yarn! :)

I'm a crochet girl too..but I'm knitting more these days than crocheting. My hardest part is getting started. I hate starting a chain. I much rather cast on stitches on my knitting needle. That said, that little boy's vest is cuuuuute!

I addicted to those silly commercials with the miniature giraffe - even my husband was quick to point out the new one to me where he is on the treadmill watching big giraffes run. Those ad people are golden. I know how to crochet - if I ever see something that floats my boat - I intend to start it. Melody

Linda Permann is awesome. You should check out her other book, Crochet Adorned where she uses crochet to spruce up all kinds of stuff.

Crochet is becoming more fashionable lately, I think, because of modern designers like Linda. I am a knitter first, but every couple months I take a vacation from knitting with a crochet project when I find a really great one. :)
