I'm livid!

Like an awful lot of people who live in Chicago, we live in a condo. It's a three story, three family building made from red brick. Three-flats are probably the single most common type of building in these parts. It's a pretty average neighborhood, not the fanciest 'hood by any stretch, but it's established and I generally feel pretty darn safe there.

So when I woke up this morning to find this:

and this:

in the entryway, I was not a happy camper.

I was taking the dog for her morning walk and the poor thing must have thought I was having a seizure. I was swearing and sputtering and generally behaving in a highly unladylike fashion. If half of what I said about the villains is true, you can safely assume that their parents weren't married to one another and/or that they have engaged in inappropriate relations with their mothers.

I am finally breathing normally again. We'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.

That kind of stuff really irks me, too. Just pointlessly messing up other people's homes.

Holy Crap! I don't recall it getting so cold as to drive the taggers in-doors. I would be less concerned about the tagging and more about the fact that someone did not lock/close the door and someone got inside.

How rude! Did they have to break in to do this? They must have a 'brass set' to enter a home to do this! I hope they get caught- I hope their mother raised them better than that!

I woke up one morning to that crap all over my fence. You're right in that it takes all of your feelings of safety away. I painted over them and it never happened again, thank goodness.

Love the bracelets!!

Am I seeing things or are there three "K"'s? If so, that's extra frightening and horrible, so I'm crossing my fingers that the answer is no.

I hope that whoever did this never targets your building again. There is a large concrete retaining wall that runs along the alley behind my home that gets a lot of graffiti. My dog managed to startle a tagger once and, of course, got extra treats for his good job protecting the neighborhood.

Umm...not very good taggers i say. If they were half way decent I don't think it would be as bad. Nothing worse than bad design even with graffiti.

rudeness never ever ever occurs to many people in chicago - other people were raised right- but in close proximity you're pretty much at their mercy.

that's why i got out :)

Document the damage (which you've done), pass it along to your local precinct, and paint over the marks asap. When the marks don't last long before being obliterated, the gangs move on.
